Ibrahim Salman is an optician certified by the American Board of Opticianry (ABOC) and the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLEC). He has more than 25 years in the optical field. During that time he has worked with LensCrafters, Luxottica, EyeMasters, ECCA and Sears Optical. He has also run one-hour optical labs.
That lab experience matters here, because many pairs of glasses are made on site in about an hour. Ibrahim knows how a lab works from the inside. So he can explain what to expect for your prescription.
An optician turns your prescription into glasses you enjoy wearing. First, Ibrahim helps you choose frames and lenses that suit your eyes and your day. Then he takes the measurements the lenses need, including where your pupils sit in the frame. Finally, he checks the fit when your glasses are ready, so they feel comfortable from the first day.
He can explain every lens type in plain words. These include single vision, bifocal, trifocal and progressive lenses, plus Transitions® lenses that darken in sunlight. For example, if you play golf or work on a computer, he will talk through which lens fits. He also handles glasses repairs and adjustments. A bent frame or a loose nose pad does not have to wait.
Ibrahim enjoys the hard cases. If you have low vision, double vision or aniseikonia, he will take the time to work out a solution with you and Dr. Russell. Aniseikonia is a condition where your two eyes see images of different sizes. Because these problems can be frustrating, he listens first and then explains your options.
Many of our patients are seniors, snowbirds and new residents, and some arrive with an old pair they like. If that is you, bring them along. He can compare them with your new prescription and show you what has changed.
Your prescription is yours, so you decide where to fill it. However, if you choose us, stop by our optical. You can ask Ibrahim anything about your glasses, from frame fit to lens choices.
